Jeff has been helping people buy and sell Outer Banks real estate since
1989. He has participated in or managed agents who participated in almost
three quarters of a billion dollars in real estate sales. He holds five
professional real estate designations and served as President of the Outer
Banks Association of Realtors. Jeff received the prestigious Realtor of the
Year Award in 2001 and 2002 for the Outer Banks Association of Realtors. The
only person in the history of this Association to receive this award two
consecutive years. He is also the author of Living the Dream. A
comprehensive guide to buying, owning and selling Outer Banks real estate.
Jeff graduated from Gordon College and the Harvard University Extension
School in Cambridge, Massachusetts before moving to the Outer Banks in 1989.
He also has been involved in the Outer Banks community by serving as
Chairman of the Administrative Council and Lay Leader of Duck United
Methodist Church, as a member of the Board of Directors for the North
Carolina Association of Realtors and the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce.
Jeff also enjoys coaching his son's little league soccer teams in the Dare
County Parks and Recreation League.
Karen has been
involved in the real estate sales industry since 1990. She worked as a real
estate personal assistant in Newport News until 1997 when she moved to the
Outer Banks. Prior to joining Scott Team Realty, Karen was the Administrator
for one of the largest real estate companies on the Outer Banks. Karen's
attention to detail and expertise in the transaction process allows her to
provide top notch service to Scott Team Realty's clients.
Jeff's wife Lori-Jo has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gordon College and
earned her North Carolina real estate license in 2002. Her past business
experience includes five years as a Customer Service Representative at RBC
Centura and Secretary for the Duck Methodist Church in Duck NC. She has
spent the last four years raising the Scotts' two sons Drew and Tommy.
Dennis Hawthorn Business Procurement Specialist
Dennis Hawthorn, a graduate from Virginia Tech University, has resided on
the Outer Banks for the past thirty years and currently resides with his
wife Toni in Southern Shores.
Dennis comes from the environmental field and has extensive knowledge of
ecological processes, coastal area construction and environmental permitting
along beautiful but often fragile waterfront and wetland areas.
Over the past five years, Mr. Hawthorn has been the president and owner of
Coastal Area Permit Assistance, a firm he started after retiring from 14
years of service as a CAMA Representative for the N. C.Division of Coastal
Management. Mr. Hawthorn takes great pleasure and pride in helping people,
and like many, believes the Outer Banks is a special and beautiful place.
Many also know Dennis as the local and regional musician, song writer and
performer “Denny Blue”. He has performed on the Outer Banks, as well as in
the Tidewater area for over the past two decades.
Mr. Hawthorn believes his collective experience and skill will be a great
asset to people looking to buy or sell real estate in northeastern North
Carolina.
