Kitty Hawk's beaches have become narrower in recent years. Most homes on the ocean front homes in Kitty Hawk are threatened by the erosion of this beach.  This makes it difficult to get 30 year financing for homes here.  The reward of great ocean views and the feel of a ship at sea is still worth the risk of loosing the home to the ocean for some Outer Banks buyers.
